The 29th match of the T20 World Cup series between England and Sri Lanka was played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday, November 1, 2021, at 7:00 PM. The Sri Lankan captain won the toss and elected to bowl first. Only one match was played today in connection with the T20 World Cup 2021. Sri Lanka started batting but the early batsmen got out intermittently, But the middle-order batsman tried to make some resistance matches interesting, Vinandu Asranga scored 34 off 21 balls, Banuka Raja Paska scored 26 off 18 balls while Dawson Shanaka scored 26 off 25 balls. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 137 in 19 over are with six balls to spare. The best bowling performance by England, Moin Ali took 2 wickets for 15 runs in 3 over’s, Adil Rashid took 2 wickets for 19 runs in 4 over’s while Chris Jordan took 2 wickets for 24 runs in 4 over’s. England defeated Sri Lanka by 26 runs to gain 2 more points and reached the top position in the group. In the group stage, England is in the first position with 8 points while South Africa is in the second position with 4 points. The Australian team also has 4 points but the run rate is in the negative while the run rate of South Africa is in the plus. There are still matches for all the teams, and as the matches go on, the position of the teams will go up and down. The top two teams in the group will qualify for the World cup Semi-Finals.
Jose Butler was named Man of the Match for his excellent batting performance in the match.
