Australia's opening batsmen got off to a great start in the innings but left-handed batsman David Warner playing aggressively was dismissed for 53 runs off 38 balls newcomer batsman Mitchell Marsh is also known as Run Machine Mitchell Marsh played a brilliant match-winning inning of 77 runs off 50 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 6 fours and not out all-rounder Glenn Maxwell while playing aggressively scored 28 runs off 18 balls and was not out. The New Zealand bowlers could not stop the Australian batsmen from scoring in the final match only fast bowler Trent Bolt bowled well and bowled out 2 wickets for 18 runs in 4 over’s. Australia achieved the target of 173 runs in 17.5 overs for a loss of 2 wickets. Thus Australia won the T20 World Cup for the first time by defeating New Zealand by 8 wickets in the final match with 7 balls left in the innings.
Mitchell Marsh was named Man of the Match by Australia for his match-winning performance in the final.
Australian left-handed batsman, David Warner was named Man of the Series for best batting performance in the World Cup he scored 289 runs in the entire series.
Australia won the T20 World Cup for the first time in the history of the T20 World Cup.
