Afghanistan vs. New Zealand
The 40th match of the T20 World Cup series between Afghanistan and New Zealand was played today, Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 3:00 PM at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Afghan captain Mohammad Nabi won the toss and elected to bat first. Today's match was very important for Afghanistan because if Afghanistan had beaten New Zealand, India's way to the semi-finals would have been smooth because India's run rate was much better than other teams but that didn't happen because the Afghan team didn't play well and failed miserably to set a big target on the scoreboard. New Zealand bowled well and did not allow Afghan batsmen to bat aggressively; Afghan batsmen are out trying to score runs. When Afghanistan started the innings their batsmen got out early Only Najibullah Zardan played an excellent inning of 73 runs off 48 balls, Gulbadin NAB scored 15 runs off 18 balls while Captain Muhammad Nabi scored only 14 runs off 20 balls. Afghanistan scored 124 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 over’s and New Zealand were given a target of 125 to win the match. New Zealand bowlers bowled well, fast bowler Trent Bolt bowled out 3 wickets for 17 in 4 over’s, Tim Southee took 2 wickets for 24 runs in 4 over’s while Ish Southee gave away 13 runs in 2 over’s and dismissed 1 player. The New Zealand team started the innings confidently and scored runs from time to time don’t let Afghan bowlers dominate New Zealand batsman Captain Ken Williamson batted brilliantly and played an unbeaten innings of 40 runs off 42 balls, David Conway scored 36 not out off 32 balls, Martin Guptill played an innings of 28 runs off 23 balls. New Zealand achieved the given target of 125 runs in 18.1 overs with 2 wickets in hand while 11 balls left in the innings. From Afghanistan Spain bowlers Rashid Khan gave away 27 runs in 4 over’s and dismissed 1 player while Mujeeb-ur-Rehman gave away 31 runs in 4 over’s and dismissed 1 player. New Zealand defeated Afghanistan by 8 wickets in the main match of Super-12 and gained 2 more points. New Zealand topped the points table with 8 points as New Zealand's run rate is better than Pakistan's. Pakistan will play its last match in Super-12 against Scotland at 7 pm today. If Pakistan wins, it will move to the first position in the group table with 10 points.
Fast bowler Trent Boult was named Man of the Match for his excellent bowling performance by New Zealand.
41st T20 World Cup match
Pakistan vs. Scotland
The 41st match of the T20 World Cup series between Pakistan and Scotland was played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 7:00 PM. Pakistan Captain Babar Azam won the toss and elected to bat first. When Pakistan started the innings opening batsmen Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman got out early but Captain Babar Azam batted brilliantly and continued his form with brilliant innings of 66 runs off 47 balls, upcoming new batsman Mohammad Hafeez also looked in excellent form using his experience he played an excellent inning of 31 runs off 19 balls while experienced all-rounder Shoaib Malik played a smoky inning of unbeaten innings of 54 runs off 28 balls and not out by making the fastest fifty of the T20 World Cup. Pakistan scored 189 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 20 over and gave Scotland a difficult target of 190 runs to win the match. Experts Cricket thought it was a difficult target for the Scottish team which cannot be easily achieved. Scotland's Chris Greaves bowled 2 wickets for 43 runs in 4 over’s and proved to be an expensive bowler while Hamza Tahir and Safyaan Sharif took one wicket each. Scotland did not start a good innings opening batsmen were out early Middle-order batsman Richie Barrington scored 54 runs off 37 balls and was not out, George Munsey scored 17 runs off 31 balls while Michael Leask scored 14 runs off 14 balls. Scotland scored 117 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 over’s. Scotland did not win any match in the World Cup But they got a chance to learn a lot by playing with big senior teams. Pakistan bowled well; Shadab Khan gave away only 14 runs in 4 over’s and dismissed 2 players while Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf took one wicket each in 4-4 over’s. In this way, Pakistan defeated Scotland by 72 runs in the main match of Super-12 and got 10 points and won all the matches in the group and got the honor of being an unbeaten team.
Shoaib Malik was awarded Man of the Match for his excellent batting performance by Pakistan.
