West Indies captain Kiran Pollard won the toss and elected to bowl first. The performance of the West Indies team throughout the World Cup has been disappointing, The West Indies squad included big names. In which experienced cricketers like Chris Gayle, Kiran Pollard, DJ Bravo, and Andre Russell were playing T20 World Cup 2021. Expert Cricket thought that the West Indies team was experienced and capable of winning the World Cup but the West Indies team could not meet the standards. The Sri Lankan openers started the innings well and scored fast runs, Cherith Asalanka played brilliant innings of 68 off 41 balls, Python Nisanka scored 51 off 41 balls while Kosal Perera scored 29 off 21 balls. The Sri Lankan team washed the West Indies bowlers well and batted aggressively. Sri Lanka scored 189 runs for the loss of 3 wickets at the end of 20 overs which is an excellent target for slow wickets. Sri Lanka gave West Indies a big target of 190 runs to win the match.
